By June 2005 after a catalogue of broken promises, Boot Residents feared a sell-out as the Lib-Dem run Council back tracked on its promise to give every resident the ‘right to return’.
The original community-led redevelopment proposals collapsed in November 2002 and forced the resignation of Councillor Richard Kemp, the then Executive Member for Housing over mismanagement of the proposals.
The original proposals had contained a ‘Pledge to Boot Residents’ incorporated into the business plan ‘to ensure that everyone who wants to remain on the estate will be able to do so’.
